...a book review of Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams at Home.

Jeni's Ice Cream has exploded in the last couple months. (I have posts about Jeni's here and here) Started in Columbus, Ohio, her amazing little pints of ice cream have now landed themselves in Whole Foods all over the country. Then I discovered her cookbook! But my favorite part of it isn't actually the recipes for her ice cream, it's her story. A successful business can't be based on simply a good product, and she knew she had a great product. But it has to be combined with business savvy and excellent marketing. Which after her first failed business, she made she to find for the second go round. 

Since I am currently inspired by anyone who can run a successful start up, reading this was the kick in the butt I needed to get my etsy shop up and running. Oh, and I will definitely be making some of this ice cream...below is the page with her recipe for her famous peanut butter buckeye, and each page has a photo of the ice cream on a spoon, so cute!

Ok, that's a bit of a lie. I don't LOVE change. But I do love yoga. And today in yoga my adorable hippie/yogie teacher was having us chant about chakras and trying to ground us (oh yea - we had an earthquake yesterday...that was terrifying) and other awesome yogie-ness and she told us the theme of the class was change, and that change is the only constant, the only thing you can count on. Which is sort of crazy, because I've had some change recently and more coming up (I'm starting a 6 month rotation for work where I work 40 hours in 3 days - I'm a little terrified) and this was so comforting to hear. And then I remembered these ad.or.a.ble yoga calling cards I spotted yesterday on Paper Crave. I soooooorrrtt of want to become a yoga teacher just so I could put my name on these.

You GUYS. I am super excited to announce that my child, the etsy store I've spent the last couple months thinking about, planning, then actually working on, has launched!!!


If you aren't familiar with etsy, it is an online marketplace for handmade goods. I have no idea what etsy means - there have been some discussions about it. You guys. I hate to get expectations up, but crazy, stupid, love was all I hoped for and more. There were a ton of fun plot twists and the shirtless shots of Ryan Gosling weren't so bad either. But the tragic things is I have as much of a crush on Emma Stone as I do on Ryan (we're on a first name basis now since we're obviously getting married...). She makes any movie better, breathes just a fun burst of fresh air into a film. Are you as excited as I am to see The Help?


PS. Might see it again. Seriously, I was grinning from ear to ear for hours after the movie it made me so happy.

Haven't tried this yet, but I am very intrigued and excited. I always try and sneak as many veggies into a meal and am attempting to do a lower card diet and this seems so perfect! Of course I just went to the store and forgot to get the items to make it...stay tuned I'll let you know how it is once I make it!

A couple weeks ago Andrew and I went on a three year anniversary trip to the La Amada Resort in Cancun. It was so blissful. I found the trip on a flash sale site called Jetsetter, which is an invite only (if you want an invite leave a comment below with your email address!). They have really good deals on super nice places!


The resort was so nice and so relaxing, I read Bossypants and The Poisonwood Bible sitting by the beach or on our balcony. It was all inclusive and the food was really good, so fresh and healthy (except I always have to get dessert...), there was a great gym and yoga classes and an awe.some. spa. All around almost perfect week (the weather wasn't super great, but first world problems so I won't complain too much).
