...the typography of lonny

The typography over at lonny mag is impressive. Very fun and fresh and do they need another graphic designer?

These are some spreads from the May/June 2011 issue, currently on their website! Go read it!

...fun hairstyles

Unfortunately, I possess no skillz whatsoever in doing hair. I can blow mine dry and put it in a bun. But, all these blogs are doing these adorable hair tutorials and I'm working up the courage to start trying them!

the beauty department (a cute Lauren Conrad developed site - random, I know)

a cup of jo does adorable ones but you kind of have to scour through her site to find them, below is one of hers!

...kale chips and gwyneth paltrow

I bought Gwyneth Paltrow's cookbook because I'm obsessed with her and she was on the cover of my Bon Appetit, which I thought gave her some more street cred in the cooking world. I decided I will cook my way through it this summer, Julie and Julia style, and first up is kale chips. The easiest recipe in the book...starting off strong...

So, I've seen these elsewhere and been wanting to make them for a while, but kept forgetting. They are surprisingly tasty, and very easy (like toss in olive oil and bake easy) and the best part? Kale is freaking cheap. Like I spent 31 cents on kale at the store cheap.

Recipe:
1 big bunch of kale, stems discarded and leaves torn into pieces
2 tablespoons olive oil
sea salt

Preheat oven to 400 degrees, toss the kale with the olive oil and spread out on 2 baking sheets. Sprinkle with salt and roast for 12-15 minutes, until lightly browned and crispy!

I love the idea of your business card starting out with hi, so cute and welcoming!

I think I will be making both of these shortly since the temps are in the 90's for the next 2 months...

...some summer styles

Ooooh look at the lovely alliteration. My goodness, I had a whirlwind weekend, moving Friday, wedding in Charlottesville Saturday and then bright and early headed to the US Open in Bethesda Sunday to spend the day watching golf. Woot. All of that equaled very little time to assemble blog posts for you lovies. And almost no sleep. Or unpacking. Lack of sleep leads to rambling...

But, I did manage to spend some time at work today drooling over wit + delight's tumblr. Go there now. But actually don't, because then you won't see things first on i simply love. Here are two summer looks I wish to try soon:

... ...

I can't say I simply love too much this week. Work decided to get crazy the week I am moving (and didn't start packing soon enough...) so that equals a lack of blog posting! Sorry friends, miss you, and I'll be back Monday. hopefully. why do I have so many clothes. and shoes. and bowls from anthropologie.

If only my move was this adorable:

...these looks

Some fashion I'm drooling over recently...

the full hot pink skirt (is anyone really surprised?), the neon yellow kate spade essex scout bag paired with a teal shorts suit (because everyone owns a teal short suit...) the bright yellow shorts, which would be awesome with a classic chambray shirt from emersonmade, and of course, the always in style white shirt with navy shorts...

...black and white photos with stripes in them

I am not a photographer (unless you count my instagram obsession on my iphone) so I apologize if I am way behind on this one, but I love the stripes being worn in these black and white photos. It adds a little contrast and intrigue in a modern way to a classic art. Yes?

...creative stationary companies

Spotted on Brooklyn Bride: a stationary company, The Lettered Olive, that has debuted an iPad stationary book, as opposed to the clunky books full of stationary samples. Quite sleek and clever right?

..hippos!

OK, so I don't reeeeaallyy simply love hippos (or do I?) but I do love super cute letterpress notecards with fun phrases and colorful animals on them. Did I carve out enough of a niche there for ya? Hip Hip Hurray is a phrase my adorable grandmother (who definitely does not read this blog, nor know how to turn on a computer) uses often. So perhaps I should send her one?

...buzz bakery

A new bakery opened a couple blocks from my apartment that is both delicious and dangerous. It is called Buzz Bakery and has yummy cupcakes and coffee and breakfast treats. Below are photos of my chocolate chip cookie dough cupcake. That's right. There was cookie dough in the middle of the cookie dough flavored cupcake. The icing was not my favorite. But the cookie dough made up for it. Dare me to say cookie dough one more time in this post? Cookie dough.
